Whether you’re a student preparing for your first practicum or a resident working toward licensure, NewDay Center offers a rich and meaningful clinical training experience within a faith-based setting. We believe in equipping the next generation of counselors with the knowledge, skills, and spiritual depth needed to bring healing to others.

At NewDay, you won’t just observe—you’ll engage. You’ll be part of a diverse team of professionals in addiction recovery, mental health counseling, and Christian ministry who are passionate about developing you as a clinician and as a servant-leader.

Our Internships

Bachelor’s Level Internship (LAC)

Ideal for: Undergraduate students pursuing behavioral health degrees.
Time
Commitment: 20–30 hours/week (Unpaid)
Experience Includes:
  • Assisting with intakes, phones, and admissions/discharges
  • Supporting and eventually leading therapy groups
  • Shadowing residential staff 2–3 days/week
  • Learning treatment planning and facility operations
  • Weekly supervision with licensed clinicians

Master’s Level Practicum

Ideal for: First placement students pursuing LMHC, LCAC, LMFT, or LCSW.
Time Commitment: 10–15 hours/week (Unpaid)
Experience Includes:
  • Co-facilitating groups and supporting intake process
  • Beginning individual counseling with residential clients
  • Observing and supporting individual, couple, and family sessions
  • Weekly supervision and participation in clinical team meetings

Master’s Level Internship

Ideal for: Graduate students following practicum and seeking intensive experience.
Time Commitment: 15–20 hours/week across two semesters (Unpaid)
Experience Includes:
  • Managing a caseload of 10–20 clients
  • Leading therapy groups and supporting IOP
  • Completing assessments and intake sessions
  • Creating a marketing and post-graduation plan
  • Weekly clinical supervision and staff meetings

Residency (Associate License)

Ideal for: Graduates with an associate license completing hours toward LMHC, LCAC, LCSW, or LMFT.
Time Commitment: 25–35 hours/week (Paid)
Experience Includes:
  • Leading a full caseload of 20–25 clients
  • Mentoring interns and leading groups
  • Overseeing IOP programs and program development
  • Facilitating clinical meetings and weekend on-call rotation
  • Continued bi-weekly supervision and professional development
